While there is currently no cure for ataxic cerebral palsy (CP), treatments exist that can reduce the severity of the symptoms. For short term use, drugs like benzodiazepine and primidone can be effective in alleviating symptoms of ataxic cerebral palsy. In addition, botox, has been found to be helpful in treating head, hand, and voice tremors.
Recently a technique known as cooling has shown some promise in temporally treating intention tremor in ataxic cerebral palsy and lasting up to 30 minutes. In this treatment, cooling of the arm is achieved by covering the forearm, in a cryomanchet using a fluid that circulates.
